Welcome to Sew Kylie Quilts

Hello, I’m Kylie, a proud mum to a young adult son who has flown the nest, but not before leaving me with a delightful companion—Emmett, my big black lab x rottweiler dog. This gentle giant has taken over our home and keeps me company as I bring my quilt designs to life in my cozy studio. Every stitch is accompanied by his loving presence, making each day a joyful adventure.

 

When I'm not quilting, you can find my soulmate and me exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Tasmania, Australia. We cherish our trips at least twice a year, where we reconnect with friends and embark on hikes through nature's stunning beauty. From lush forests to rugged coastlines, Tasmania never fails to inspire our wanderlust and creativity.

 

Quilting is more than just a hobby for me; it’s a passion that brings warmth and comfort to others. With every quilt I create, I pour my heart and soul into the designs, hoping to spread joy and coziness to homes everywhere.

My Story

I began my quilting journey in 2003.  An unexpected love of fabric and quilting started by accident when I took my mum to a quaint little quilt shop.  It was love at first sight and I left that little shop with a bundle of fabric a pattern and then had to go and buy a sewing machine!  From there 1 quilt became 2, then 3 and they say the rest is history!

In 2008 the dream of owning a longarm was realised.  This was a personal creative persuit which evolved over the years into a professional quilting service with the upgrade of a much bigger and more robust longarm quilting machine.  This transition was driven by the love of quilting, the thirst to grow and learn with the personal need for greater flexibility.  Turning passion into purpose.

 

I am a full time, professional longarm quilter.  I love what I do and would love to quilt for you!

Below is a breakdown of our pricing and services to help you plan your project with confidence.

📐 How to Calculate Your Quilting Cost

  • Measure your quilt in inches (length × width).

  • Convert to square feet: Divide the total by 144. (Example: 72" × 84" = 6,048 ÷ 144 = 42 sq ft)

  • Multiply by your chosen pattern rate (see below).

$29.50 per quilt

Includes order processing, thread, and machine setup.

📌 Tips for Preparing Your Quilt

  • Ensure all loose threads have been carefully trimmed from your quilt top.

  • Use a safety pin to mark the top and backing of your quilt.

  • Backing and batting should be at least 4" larger that the quilt top on all four sides of your quilt top.

  • If your backing is joined, using a 1/2" seam allowance is recommended ensuring the seam is pressed open.
